The bass doesn't over power the mids or highs which is ideal for me. I would suggest these headphones to friends, but would alert them of the volume issue first.
Many people complain about it hurts after a couple of hours, my opinion of what they say is; I weared my Sony MDR-XD200 Headphones for approx 11 hours each day by 5 days per week. There's just one wire coming out of these headphones - on the left side (my connection would be to the left so I love the one wire thing).
I put them on aprox. They are doing the task without any discomfort, and sound is great. I've heard background stuff in songs I didn't know were there. My plan for a headphone is about twenty bucks, but you may still find a substantial amount of options.
These headphones are an incredible deal, outstanding sound for just $20! They can fit over the entire ear without causing feedback. I noticed at seven months that one felt free and found it had been halfway damaged. These headphones are huge with a huge cable. They look ridiculous on me when I am putting them on at work, and they look ridiculous on my small workplace mates who occasionally borrow them. It was among the best purchases I've made! The sound is excellent and I could not believe these were under $30. Both are nice and sound fantastic however I do like the Koss headphones better. The noise from the random parts of these headphones renders them useless. Nearly forgot to say, the Sennheiser HD201 is missing on the bass. I've been wearing these for extended amounts of time with no problems, and often they're so comfortable that I forget they are on! My hatsize if about 7.25, I have used these occaisionally a couple of months and my ears/head get sore after 1-2 hours. These headphones are good lower cost headphones for desktops or movies. Though, the cord is simply too long.
And don't think these provide great bass response. Now I do not have a golden ear, however these measure up to people well enough. This evaluation is targeted at individuals with eyeglasses and whose ears get pinched between your eyeglass arms and the earphones. Sound is more than adequate, great bass sound, comfortable but just a little heavy after more than an hour or so of listening. I really like them!
Quality of sound is nice - a little bit bass shy if you are accustomed to listening to phones with a heavy bass emphasis, however they sound pretty flat to my ears. They are fantastic headphones, fantastic quality of sound, looks awesome, comfy, fits any head, and light weight.
It does not make a difference on the sound.

The ear cushions feel comfortable, regardless of the relatively large size according to a noise cancelling headphones review. I usually use the infrared wireless headphones with my laptop computer or mp3 and when you had a roommate who does not like to shutup like I had, they are an ideal item for any university student.
