The RS 160 didn't have enough RANGE to cover my home, and wanted the increased range and AGC (automatic gain control) to tame loud passages. I am thrilled with the new RS 180!
They are just Ni-Cad AAA batteries so you should just be able to replace them with standard, inexpensive rechargeable AAAs when they eventually die. Build quality is excellent.
Here's a quick review for you. The quality is absolutely great, and the range is incredible. His first comments about the product came before it was even out of the box. The outside of the box literally has instructions on how to open the packaging!
When, in time, the batteries are exhausted, I can simply purchase replacements at the grocery store and change them out in less than a minute. I was SO PLEASED with the RS 180, that I purchased a second pair to carry with me to field locations.
I couldn't be happier with these headphones. Zero background noise.

The sound quality of the 180 is only marginally better than the 120 and the positioning of the controls makes it more difficult to use. The range of operation is not what I thought it should be.
