You can't go wrong with Sennheiser! We replaced a cheaper item with the Sennheiser RS 180 Digital Wireless Headphone System. He has done a disservice to his company, in my opinion. In conclusion, you won't be disappointed with the quality of sound and comfort of the 180's -- top notch.
When, in time, the batteries are exhausted, I can simply purchase replacements at the grocery store and change them out in less than a minute. I was SO PLEASED with the RS 180, that I purchased a second pair to carry with me to field locations. I find the 130's much easier to change volume since it is a simple roll of a wheel but the 180's won't change volume while lying on my side. The 180's do take some getting used to if you want to change volume while you're wearing the headphones. The two AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries will run the cans for 24 hours, and all I have to do to recharge them is to "hang" the headset on the transmitter. There's nothing to plug in. Panasonic I think. I wanted to spend the money and get something with better sound and more comfort. Wow, I have been waiting literally years for a quality set of wireless headphones. I listened to many including the previous generation of Sennheiser's. The RS 160 didn't have enough RANGE to cover my home, and wanted the increased range and AGC (automatic gain control) to tame loud passages. I am thrilled with the new RS 180!
That song being the wonderful Nature Boy by Nenna Freelon. I know this is cliched, but I literally heard notes that I never heard before. You will hear bullets in front of you, behind you, and to your right. They are great headphones and no regrets. I had original purchased the Sennheiser RS120 but wasn't thrilled with the lack of bass, volume levels and interference issues.
Once opened, it's clear that the makers thought of everything; from the various country-specific power adapters, to the cord organizer. You will not be left wanting with these headphones.
They have the advantage of distance over the pioneers. The pioneers have more volume but these are OK.
Everything considered I would recommend this headset highly to anyone! I bought this wireless headphone system to use while watching TV late at night, so I won't wake my spouse who sleeps upstairs above the TV room. In a word, the Sennheiser RS 180 remote headphones are just about perfect. I did not give them 5 stars across the board, because I feel that they are about 2 tenths away from that. Exceptionally audio and as advertised the headphones enhance the audio clarity, as if bringing the voices to the front of the screen. This particular model -- the 180 -- focuses on "open air" and the audio clarity.
