The two AAA NiMH rechargeable batteries will run the cans for 24 hours, and all I have to do to recharge them is to "hang" the headset on the transmitter. There's nothing to plug in. I think RS130 is analog sound and RS180 is digital sound. Sound quality is very good and no static background noise.
It has completely worthless buttons on the side that are too small and flat and unusable while you are wearing. You have to take off the phones to adjust volume, etc.
The range is excellent too - works everywhere in my 1,300 square foot apartment and in the hallway too (when I go to take garbage out for instance). What I do agree with is that the control buttons are pain to use. Whether it is much better than the 130's is a perception thing since I can't at the same time be hearing both. If I had found an issue with the sound quality of the 130's, then the 180's would have solved it. First let me tell you the good things. Yes, the quality of the sound is excellent. Finally someone delivers and stands up to all the promises. After opening the box I was quite pleased with the build quality and color.
I am very pleased with them and would recommend this model as they are updated and perfected to give the buyer a good quality for the $. The week I purchased them they were 50.00 less in price and I don't know how I lucked out, but I paid under 300.00. Very comfortable and out on patio with great volume. The grandkids can I watch TV.
That said, contrary to how these headphones are described on Amazon, these headphones DON'T have "dynamic surround sound." I wish they did and I wonder why they don't, as the lower-level Model RS 170 headphones have surround sound.
Now for the big complaint I have, and a reason why I will probably return the 180's in spite of all its good points. There is a slight out-of-phase problem with the source sound. I purchased these wireless headphones for quiet listening late at night so I would not disturb other people. I have used the wired Sennheiser HD 414 headphones for the last 20+ years and have had zero problems with them.
Since it cannot process the lossless codecs via bit stream, everything was fed to it as PCM. This caused the receiver to automatically apply its own processing (aptly named Headphone 2CH). This is one of those right at the top. Sound is SUPERIOR to my new 42 LED/LCD TV.

Otherwise, they are excellent, especially for the cost. I know the cord should be long but truthfully it is annoyingly long. Infrared Wireless Headphones. These infrared wireless headphones are the most useful I ever had. They get the job done with good sound, so therefore the 4 stars. Infrared Wireless Headphones.
