The uncompressed digital really makes a difference. The only negative as mentioned in earlier reviews is the buttons which could be more defined which would make it easier when they are on your head but this isn't a show stopper.
The rechargeable batteries last a really long time, and charge very quickly. The base station is stylish, and the charge mechanism is really easy (there are three contact points on the top, and when you rest your headphones on top, it charges them).
You never hear static or noise from these headphones. When you get to the limit of the range they just cut off. I picked these up for a Christmas present for myself after researching wireless headphones online. My partner can't stand hearing gun shots & zombie screams coming from the living room.
The kids are blessed with excellent hearing, while mine has been sub-standard most of my life. My wife and kids were constantly telling me to turn the volume down.
It is sufficient for my needs. Lastly, the 180's are as comfortable to wear as the 130's.
But when you listen to piano sonata, you have narrow peaks at a few frequencies in the sound spectrum at any given time. The clear wireless transmission should have a certain threshold for "clipping" for any narrow frequency range. The setup and daily use could be easier (the status light blinks differently depending on what the status of the device/headphones is), and the headphones don't fit comfortably on my ears. I have another Sennheiser set (PC 360) and those fit very comfortably, but the ear cups on the RS 180 are smaller and oddly shaped, and may not fit comfortably on your head at first. The open ear design is great for enjoying great audio in the house without getting closed off from the world. Not easy to set it up with 1 transmitter to multiple headphones, had to just daisy chain the audio cable to a second transmitter. I haven't worn them for more than 90 minutes at a stretch, but they are comfortable for that amount of time (and that's not the case all the time for me with other headphones). My biggest complaint is that I need to turn the volume up on my source quite loud, so if I forget to adjust it before unplugging, it's extremely loud unplugged. In my discussion with the Sennheiser rep, I pointed out this reviewer's comment about this and the rep said to just turn down the TV. After I said that wasn't an option, he then stated that the 180's won't behave any different than the 130's.
I've tried these with music and TV, and both sound great. Regarding the volume control, there is a tradeoff. But day to day, incredible range and quality (I live in a townhouse and I can go between floors). It's much better than my older RS130. Sennheiser RS 180 Digital Wireless Headphone RS 180 has a brilliant sound quality compatible to high end professional, wired system. Comfortable fit for prolong usage.
