Wow, I have been waiting literally years for a quality set of wireless headphones. I listened to many including the previous generation of Sennheiser's.
Our 97 year old mother uses them to watch TV. The sound quality is much better than the 120's. My ears also hurt after a short time due to the foam ear pads. After more research I decided to give the RS180 a try. The one characteristic that was accurate in my experience when using them was regarding the control bottoms in the headset. They are difficult to feel and distinguish; a really small inconvenience considering the remarkable performance of the product.
Dual driver models needed for decent bass. I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend's birthday (at his request).
They are on the expensive side, but I'm pleased with them. I'd recommend them for anyone looking for wireless headphones in this price range. I red some comments before I bought them that they are difficult to pair - I didn't find that at all. In fact, as soon as powered up the transmitter and put the batteries in, they came right on! The uncompressed digital really makes a difference. The only negative as mentioned in earlier reviews is the buttons which could be more defined which would make it easier when they are on your head but this isn't a show stopper.
My previous set of headphones was a wired set of Grado SR-60s, and these sound every bit as good to me - but wireless! Indoor range seems to be about 60 feet through 5 or 6 walls. The ultimate test was the television with 5.1 surround sound. When these headphones were plugged into the home theatre system, for the first time he was happy. He could understand the vocals separated from the music. Our prayers were answered. All three buttons are in a 1 1/2 by 3/8 inch space with almost no way to feel which button you want. Not an easy task for any fingers, much less older fingers. Like a new remote control on a new TV, yes, it does require some getting used to but we have had fantastic feedback otherwise. These are simply the best full-sized wireless headphones that I have heard. The RS180 are a blessing as far as wireless headphones go. If you're an audiophile who demands the absolute best and wants to hear every note of Tchaikovsky, it won't be on these.
They aren't as good as some wired headphones I've used in the past but they are pretty darned close. As for the range, they have dropped twice, both times when I went out onto my back porch, and then only for a second each time.
